the world. i supported president obama's directive to provide whatever resources are necessary to keep our personnel in libya safe. i'll continue to monitor the situation as we learn more about mr. mcconnell: madam president? the presiding officer: the republican leader. mr. mcconnell: we learned yesterday and are receiving reports this morning of the attacks against the united states embsy in cairo and the u.s. consulate in bengazi in libya. in libya, our ambassador chris stevens and three other americans were killed in the service of our nation. our thoughts and sympathies today are with the families of these brave americans. these attacks remind us of the sacrifices made on a daily basisaway foreign service officers, diplomatic security personnel and our marine security guards. i joi my colleagues in strongly condemning the murder of these innocent americans, and i strongly support employing every available tool at our dissal to ensure t safety of americans overseas and to hunt down those responsible for these attacks. yesterday, we commemorated the anniversary of the attacks of septemb

. we voted 32 times to repeal obamacare. obama does care more than i can say for some. we had time for voting to repeal obamacare 32 times, but didn't have any time to offer serious fixes to the economy. and i just want to mention that president obama, to his credit, has done, i think great and excellent work in offering solutions. they simply have been ignored. it's really kind of sad when you think about the fact that the president has offered real serious and important solutions to the problems of the nation and yet they really have not been seriously addressed. for example, the president called us all here and talked about the american jobs act. this is a great piece of legislation. but you know, mr. speaker, we never even had a vote on it. we never even had an opportunity to say who wants the american jobs act. it was simply something that the republican majority in the house wouldn't even address. the fact is, there were great ideas in this bill. and i want to talk about those ideas, because i think they would really do a lot of good. it includes a national infrastructure, a

. under the leadership of president obama and the international community, the united nations has put them under some of the strongest sanctions today. oil exports have been correct. the iranian economy has been hit hard. it does have an effect on the economy. we must face the truth. sanctions have not stopped iran's nuclear program. according to the international atomic energy agency, during the last year alone, iran has doubled the number of energy uses in its underground nuclear facility. at this late hour, there is only one way to peacefully prevent iran from getting atomic bombs, and that is by placing a clear nucleare on iran's weapons program. [applause] red lines do not lead to war. they prevent war. look at nato's charter. it made clear that an attack on one member country would be considered an attack on all. new's redlined helps keep the peace in europe for nearly half a century -- red lines have helped keep the peace in europe for nearly half a century. and help preserve the peace for decades. it is the failure to place red lines that has often invited aggression. if it were dr

, and love, just as president obama said, from this platform two days ago. our future is a future that will be charted by people like chris stevens, not people like his killers. in this context, i would like to express my condolences to the libyan people and to others for the death of the person who has joined the long list of martyrs from five days ago. mr. president, i would like to express our deep appreciation for the understanding showed by the u.s. administration following that incident. let me stress that my country is determined to pursue the perpetrators and to bring them to justice. we shall make our utmost to strengthen the necessary protection granted to diplomatic and consular missions, and to insure the safety of their employees and facilities. this painful event in no way expresses the feelings of the libyan people, a people of moderation, hospitality, and gratitude. perhaps the large demonstrations condemning this insidious crime in the city of benghazi and other libyan cities is the best proof of the true feelings of the libyan people and the for rejection of all

. he urged speaker boehner to abandon the grand bargain talks with president obama. "the new york times" reported in 2011, "ryan appealed to representative cantor to cut off negotiations between the speaker and the white house because he didn't feel the terms of the emerging agreement adhered strictly enough to his conservative principles and the deal might politically benefit president obama." so, it is not a secret that the ryan budget both hurts the middle class and does nothing for deficit reduction. the only people who would benefit are the very wealthy, and god bless them. they're doing well in america, but as recent statistics just showed, they're the only people gaining income. and one other thing i'd like to add about mr. ryan here: he seems like a nice man, nice family, but his recent speeches have just been so revealing, and he did the same thing yesterday once again showing he has learned nothing from the mistakes he's made in the last few weeks. when it comes to the big debates facing our country, paul ryan either has an extremely poor memory or has a tendency to play fast
